194 Children. 194 Dreams.

In February 2014, the mayor of New York announced the reversal of Success Academy Harlem Central’s co-location, which would leave 194 students without a school building the following year. In an effort to stop the reversal, save the school, and have parents’ voices heard, I worked with Families for Excellent Schools on a campaign to #SaveThe194.

The campaign was placed in multiple print publications including The New York TimesNew York Post, and New York Daily News. It was also integrated into social, digital, and interactive platforms, as well as a tv spot. Media mentions include CBS2 and Fox News.

After garnering extensive support, press coverage, and recognition, the mayor amended his decision and found space for the school.

In January 2014, thousands of parents and families from New York City rallied in Albany to have their voices heard and #SaveThe194.
