with me: games that spark connection
With Me: Games that Spark Connection is a set of three games that utilizes design as a tool of inclusion to help generations connect with one another. Promoting interaction and meaningful dialogue, it encourages people to slow down, spend time together, and get to know one another. Through the exchange of wisdom and experiences, With Me bridges the gap between generations while exposing our shared humanity and better integrating older adults into the fabric of society.
With Me is an ongoing project that Christine conceptualized for her MFA thesis at Vermont College of Fine Arts. It has since gone through 5 iterations, following a participatory design method that involves users in the process. It is being used in older adult servicing organizations including the NYC Department for the Aging and the PSS Grandparent Family Apartments in the Bronx, housing low-income families with grandparents that are legal custodians of their grandkids. It is currently being translated into additional languages and was the recipient of the Sappi Ideas That Matter Grant in 2023 for production and distribution throughout 10 senior centers in NYC.
